Do you cook? o Do you fry vegetables with extra virgin olive oil?

Hello! Today I want to ask you a question, Do you cook? Or do you fry vegetables with extra virgin olive oil?

One related to this topic was recently published in the news section of this website, which you can see by clicking here.

This news has gained greater importance due to the publication of a study carried out by the University of Granada on the culinary technique that generates greater antioxidant capacity in the foods of our Mediterranean diet. You can read the article published by the University of Granada in the news I mentioned above.

What are the advantages and disadvantages of frying foods with extra virgin olive oil?

The aforementioned study refers to vegetables, but extra virgin olive oil is also used to fry other types of foods, such as meat, fish, etc.

From my point of view and according to my own personal taste regarding the consumption of fried foods, I prefer to consume them fried with extra virgin olive oil, than fried with other types of vegetable oils.

Returning to the research carried out at the University of Granada, the vegetables included in the Mediterranean diet, such as potatoes, pumpkin, tomatoes and eggplant, increase the content of phenolic compounds and antioxidants existing in the food itself by being fried with extra virgin olive oil.

These substances help prevent chronic degenerative pathologies such as cancer, diabetes or macular degeneration.

According to this, it could be said that frying vegetables with extra virgin olive oil is a great advantage because it prevents us from suffering from certain diseases, but it must also be noted that when frying a food, it does not matter the type of oil we use, the Its caloric density also increases, so people who must follow a diet to reduce cholesterol should take this into account.

For people who do not suffer from any type of restriction, the study shows that it is healthier to consume vegetables fried with extra virgin olive oil than to consume them fried with another type of oil or boiled.

What are the advantages and disadvantages of cooking foods with extra virgin olive oil?

According to what was stated in the aforementioned study, it would only be necessary to consume cooked foods when recommended by our doctor.

When cooking a vegetable, the heat transfer that is made to the food is through water. Even if you add extra virgin olive oil to said water, it will not transmit the same properties as when frying it, since the oil does not dissolve with Water.

If we analyze the study carefully, we can draw the conclusion that it is more advisable for our health to fry vegetables with extra virgin olive oil than to cook them, since by frying them, they obtain beneficial properties for our body that protect us against possible diseases.

We always warn that we must consume food products in moderation because generally, they all provide benefits to our body to a greater or lesser extent.

At Bodegas La Aurora we always recommend that if you have doubts about the consumption of any of our products, whether it is wine, vinegar or olive oil, you always consult with your doctor to avoid possible problems.

The article and the recommendation made in it to consume fried vegetables with extra virgin olive oil due to the properties it provides to our body, is supported by the study carried out by a group of excellent researchers from the University of Granada and This is why we echo this excellent news.
